FolkArt ® One Stroke™ Worksheet Packs - Basic Strokework (Item #: 1011)
7” Clear Glass Vase
Brush caddy or container for water
Paper towels
Foam plate
Rubbing alcohol

Surface Preparation:

1. Dampen a paper towel with rubbing alcohol; wipe the entire glass surface. Let dry.

Painting Instructions:

1. Dragonfly Wings – Double load the No. 12 Flat Brush with Wicker White and Cobalt. Blend on palette to soften the colors. Begin by painting comma strokes, touch the surface so that the brush is at an angle, press, pull forward and lift up to a chisel edge to complete the stroke. Paint two large upper wings and two smaller lower wings.

2. Dragonfly Body – Double load the No. 12 Flat Brush with Thicket and Fresh Foliage. Blend on the palette. Paint the head and body by creating a series of small basic leaf strokes beginning at the head of the dragonfly, set the brush down at an angle, press, pull and lift the brush up slightly but not entirely off the surface. Continue adding sections of the body with each section becoming smaller than the previous one.

3. Antennae – Load the No. 2 Script Liner Brush with Thicket. Paint antennae on the head. Dot the ends of the antennae by dipping the handle end of the brush in Thicket; place a dot of paint at the top of each antenna.

4. Border – Pant a border around the top of the vase – Double load the 1/2" Scruffy Brush by pouncing half of the brush bristles in Wicker White and the other half of the bristles in Cobalt. Pounce on the palette to blend. To paint the border, pounce the paint around the top edge of the vase creating a 1” to 2” strip. Let dry.

5. Sign your name using the No. 2 Script Liner brush in the color of your choice.

Finishing Touches –

1. FolkArt Enamels paints should be cured before washing. To cure the paint follow either the Bake Method or the Air Dry Method:

Bake Method of Curing FolkArt Enamels:
Allow your piece to dry for one hour to be sure all layers of paint have dried. Place the piece in a cool oven. Set the oven temperature to 350ºF and bake project for 30 minutes. Glass must heat gradually with the oven to avoid breakage. Do not place glass in a hot oven. After 30 minutes, turn the oven off. Let glass cool completely in oven. Do not use for 72 hours.

Air Dry Method for Curing FolkArt Enamels: Air dry the project for 21 days before using.
